Breaking Barriers Training Program
This run-walk program will help you cross the finish line feeling strong. It is designed to demonstrate the physical, mental, social health benefits of breaking barriers to conventional training programs.
The Breaking Barriers 5k training program includes:
- Work your way to finishing a 5K or a 1-Mile Fun Run.
- Experienced run/walk leaders.
- 3 group work-outs per week.
- Weekly emails with training advice.
- Start at your current fitness level and train at your own pace.
- Training for Breaking Barriers 5K and 1 mile fun run on July 13th.
- Free Mobile Training & Race App to track your progress through the program and beyond.

- Location: Lindsey House, 1607 N Hartford Ave.
- Monday and Thursday, 6:00-7:30 pm, Saturdays 8:00am.

Allow Notifications
When you first open the app, you will be asked to allow notifications. Select ALLOW to receive notifications when you use the app to track your virtual race.
Login or Create an Account
If you have an existing ITS YOUR RACE account, select "I'VE USED IT BEFORE!" and login.
Click the button that says "IT'S MY FIRST TIME", to create an account. You will need to create an account with ITS YOUR RACE using the same email address that you used to register yourself as a participant. This may be different from the Billing Email.
Verify Your Race Registration
Tap the "ME" icon and verify that your virtual race is showing up under UPCOMING EVENTS.
If you need to register, tap the RACES tab and search for the event/race.
Using app for your event
- Once you're registered and ready to participate, either select the race in your UPCOMING EVENTS or select the RACES tab and look up the name of your event.
- Once you are on the event page, go to the TRACKER tab and tap READY FOR MY RACE.
- Note: Ensure that you set your track location setting on your phone to ALWAYS ALLOW. This is a vital change to allow the app to continue using your location while you are running or walking your entire event.
- Select the event that you are registered for and tap the START RACING button. Your race event has begun!
- Your app will automatically use your GPS location to track your distance and pace.
- At any time during your session you can slide the PAUSE bar to pause your session. Keep in mind this is to be used for a pause of 15 minutes or less.
- Once you are finished with your training session, you can SLIDE TO PAUSE your session and then SLIDE TO FINISH to record your distance and time to your training profile.
- Once finished, you can add photos from your run or walk and SAVE a screenshot of your training to share
The Its Your Race app provides continued use beyond this one event!
