NYSUT RUNS WNY - River Race at the Rapids! in Niagara Falls, NY - Details, Registration, and Results

Please join us on Sunday October 27, 2024 for the NYSUT Runs WNY River Race at the Rapids in downtown Niagara Falls, New York! Come on out and show your support knowing that net proceeds from the event will benefit Feedmore WNY. Union members, family, friends, and the community at large are all welcome to join the fun!

NYSUT’s nearly 700,000 members are in every city, town and village across New York. They organize and participate in public service, fundraising, and charity initiatives that enrich the lives of their communities and help keep New York healthy and strong. NYSUT Runs New York is a growing community of family 5K events organized and supported by NYSUT local unions.

START/FINISH
OFFICIAL START TIME 9AM: The 5K race will start and finish at the Sheraton of Niagara Falls using USATF certified course NY19022JJ (VIEW COURSE MAP). Runners will enjoy a scenic view of the Upper Niagara River rapids on their 5K journey through the city with a fun and exciting post-race celebration at the Sheraton of Niagara Falls. There will be one water station located near the midpoint and bottled water will be provided to participants at the finish line.

REGISTRATION & PACKET PICKUP
Online registration will remain open right up until the start of the race. Packet pickup and race day registration will take place at the Sheraton Hotel from 7:30am right up until the start of the race at 9am. All participants who register by 10/18/24 at 9am are guaranteed to receive a complimentary NYSUT 5K race shirt in their requested size. A small quantity of extra shirts will be ordered and distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis until they are gone.

5K Run/Walk Registration: $30/$35 on race day

POST RACE CELEBRATION
After the race participants will enjoy music and excitement at the finish line as runners are announced by name as they complete the race. Light food and snacks will be served inside the hotel where the awards ceremony will take place. A cash bar will be available for those who are interested (bottled water provided) and race organizers will also host a basket auction along with a 50/50 split that will be announced at the award ceremony (Must be present for 50/50 draw to win)

PARKING
There will be plenty of parking available at or near the Sheraton. If you park in the hotel lot, you will need to have your parking ticket validated for free parking.

AGE GROUPS & AWARDS
Trophies will be presented to the top overall male and female 5K runner. Custom age group medals will be presented to the first, second, and third place male and female runners in each of the following age groups:

Age Groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and older.

NYSUT UNION MEMBER CHALLENGE
The school district with the MOST union members participating will be recognized and awarded a special prize. In addition, the school district with the FASTEST union members (average of the 5 fastest runners on the team) will also be recognized at the awards ceremony! Must have a minimum of five runners to qualify for this team award and the bragging rights that go along with it!

CANCELLATION POLICY
There will be no refunds. In the event of foul weather, public safety concerns, or for any other reason deemed necessary by race organizers (ex: state of emergency, etc), we reserve the right to postpone/reschedule the event at our discretion or offer a virtual alternative if necessary.

TIMING & FINISH LINE SERVICES
Professional timing and finish line services using industry leading Jaguar Electronic RFID timing will be provided by Race Management Solutions. Results are updated throughout the race in real time and can be accessed at any time after crossing the finish line using any one of the following options:
